Her Story

Nurturing Care

As an experienced Doula, my goal is to give you and your family the attention and knowledge you need to make informed decisions about your pregnancy and labor.

My large Caribbean family is a significant influence on how I work with families and babies. My mother is one of twelve, and growing up, I witnessed how important the arrival of a baby was because of the events that surrounded the pregnancy, the birth, and after. Aunts would bring over food, and everyone would take turns holding the baby while the new mom showered, or maybe even slept if her mommy instincts allowed her to. Perhaps she didn’t do either and would just sit and reflect on the birth of her baby with her sisters and eldest nieces. The new mom would be catered to and the younger cousins argued about who would be allowed to hold the baby next. It was a ceremony and being a part of the welcoming committee was necessary. They are moments to cherish for life.
